“The Dallas Police Department received an anonymous threat against law enforcement across the city and has taken precautionary measures to heightened security,” Dallas Police said in a statement early Saturday evening.

The lockdown was put into place shortly after 4 p.m.

DPD SWAT was deployed to the headquarters after learning of a threat made by a group from Houston claiming to be armed, sources say. Armored SWAT vehicles can be seen around the perimeter of DPD Headquarters.

Local media in Dallas are reporting that police headquarters in Dallas has been locked down Saturday afternoon after a group from Houston made threats against the police force.

The threats came just two days after five officers were shot to death by a sniper during a Black Lives Matter protest.

The police’s SWAT unit is currently clearing the area around police headquarters.

WFAA-TV in Dallas reported that 25 officers stormed out of the headquarters with gun trained on top of a parking garage. Reporters in the area were told to “get down.”

According to a reporter from CBS-DFW, one person involved in the group from Houston was spotted near Dallas police headquarters.

Police forces around the country are on high alert following Thursday’s massacre that also injured seven, in addition to the five officers who were killed in the line of duty. Many police departments are requiring officers to work in pairs this weekend.

The lockdown comes as several events honoring Dallas’ fallen officers were taking placing across the city.
