High On PCP, Unidentified Man Attacks Houston SWAT Team
HOUSTON (KTRK) — Police say it took SWAT officers and a stun gun to subdue a suspect who had barricaded himself inside a garage apartment in the Heights area.
The suspect’s girlfriend and another man called 911 around 5:15pm Sunday and asked officers to come the 1200 block of Rutland. The two had already fled the building and left the suspect alone inside the apartment.
When SWAT officers arrived at the scene, the man, who appeared to be under the influence of PCP, was yelling and behaving incoherently. The man had broken windows and thrown things out into the alley below.
“He was screaming that he wanted to speak to his grandmother. He kept repeating that over and over again,” explained HPD’s Victor Senties.
During negotiations, the man jumped out of the second floor window into the yard below. He then put up a fight while officers tried to subdue him.
“He fought and bit one of our officers as they tried to take him into custody. He put up a really good struggle when our guys tried to take him into custody,” Senties said.
