South Korea Threatens To Assassinate North Korea’s Kim Jong Un

South Korea Agitating New Korean War?

If threatened by nuclear weapons, South Korea confirmed it has a plan to kill the leader of its neighbor to the north. On Friday, North Korea said it plans to strengthen its nuclear arsenal despite condemnation from world powers.

(NEWSER) – This should calm tensions on the Korean peninsula. Asked in parliament on Wednesday whether South Korea had a plan in place to take out North Korean leader Kim Jong Unshould the need arise, the country’s defense minister didn’t beat around the bush. “Yes, we do have such a plan,” Han Min-koo replied, per CNN, which called the response “candid” and surprising to some. “If it becomes clear the enemy is moving to attack the South with nuclear missile, in order to suppress its aims, the concept [of the special forces] is to destroy key figures and areas [that] include the North Korean leadership,” Han said, per Korea Times.

North Korea Claims ‘Self-Defense’

Ri said North Korea “will continue with a policy to strengthen our nuclear capabilities in terms of quantity and quality” to counter U.S.-led sanctions and “threats” against the country.

He called North Korea’s pursuit of nuclear warheads a “self defense” measure.

During his 15-minute speech, he referred to the U.S. 25 times in a manner that suggested North Korea has pitted itself against the U.S. He hammered the point that Pyongyang will continue pursuing its nuclear and missile programs despite sanctions imposed by a large part of the global community.
